School Age
School age is defined as any child attending school Kindergarten through High School.
Many of the children that join the TK family as infants or preschoolers stay at TK after they enter school. Some of them Homeschool at TK, some of them go to private schools, some of them go to public school. We will transport children to and from selected local schools.
I love my older TK kids. They help around TK immeasurably and I love watching them grow and mature into responsible young adults. Most of my kids grow up to look at me as a mentor and good friend, even into their teen years. I think it “says something” that I have High School and college aged kids here at TK that I have raised since preschool age, and they are here voluntarily!
As the schoolage children are growing up at TK, a decided emphasis is placed on HOMEWORK FIRST, play later. Support for Homeschooling and Homework is always available, and TK offers tutoring to the kids, either by myself, or by the older TK kids.
After homework, or during school break times, TK offers the school age kids opportunities to participate in the teaching of the preschoolers as apprentices, or using TK materials to make projects of their own creation, or whatever clever activities we come up with for them to do. Many of my toys, activity centers, books and puzzles are appropriate for school age children as well.
