I told you they were beautiful! Look at these kids! Could I ask for a better class? I don’t think so!
The back row (initials only)
CC, SS, AM, CD
Front row:
SD, VA, SC, CMD, SH
All the kids in the back row and SD in the front row are “TK veterans”..they’ve been here a year or more, and they are doing a great job helping me with the other four kids in the front row, which are the “TK newbies”, and they are adding SO MUCH to TK.
Not pictured are the three “babies”, TS, TO and KT, although TS and TO are well into toddlerhood, and TS is even starting to integrate into preschool in small increments, but he doesn’t seem too fond of our choice in Circle Time music!

Something else that I think is SUPER cool is how well our younger children are taking to Ms. Ida’s Spanish class. They love her!
Click here to see a movie of SD in his first day of Spanish. It is a MOVIE, so I am not sure if it will take a long time to load on your computer....but I think it is worth the wait.

Overall our first couple days of school have been GREAT! I have been so happy with our new kids, and so proud of our “old” kids.

One of our new kids said, while standing near me:
“I am _________________ (name omitted for security),” with his hand on his chest. Then he points to me and says “Who are YOU?” as he points to me.
I responded:
“I am Terri!” with a smile.
“Oh,” he says “YOU are the Terri.” and he walks away, thoughtfully....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!
I loved it!
Ho...Hum..what..another miracle? We at TK are just surrounded by them! This place must be...MAGIC or something!

Our Brine Shrimp hatched yesterday. They are SO TINY that you couldn’t even see them in the container. The actual shrimp are actually smaller than the eggs..they look like specks of dust, if you could even see them. The only way the kids could actually SEE them was if I put some in a clear syringe (no needle) and let each kid look individually, with a flashlight pointed right at the syringe. It was like looking into a microscope (that I wish I HAD!!!)..they looked like little teeny germs swimming around in the water.

But then, the Brine shrimp weren’t even the biggest event of the day! It was the MONARCH CATERPILLAR! Strange things started happening to our caterpillar. If we had seen it on TV we would’ve thought it was science fiction! But we saw it in REAL LIFE! WOW!

You have just GOT to see the photos! I am so pleased. My newly remodeled caterpillar cage...aka “butterfly birthing room”, is working out as well as I could possibly have wanted it to. When the great transformation time came, I took the screen off and the kids could watch it, up close and FOR REAL, without having to look through glass or plastic or screen, and I was able to take some great photos! Just wait until you see!

Little did I know that Mother Goose Time was going to be using the same theme for the month of October! Hahaha! She plants butterfly attracting plants in her beautiful back yard (next door to TK) , simply so we can capture a few caterpillars to put in the TK classroom. She is even training some of the vines to crawl over her fence into TK, so the kids have been able to see the cocoons up close in the jar in our classroom, and then go out and find them in our backyard! Quite an adventure!

Last year we did Monarch butterflies. This year Ms. Ida introduced a new plant in her garden, the Passion Flower Plant,

which attracts the Fritillary Butterfly!

I captured a few Fritillary Caterpillars and put them in the TK classroom, in a large jar.

Sure enough we got cocoons within about a week,

and then......

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE AMAZING PHOTOS OF THE BUTTERFLIES EMERGING!

I like these “little” holidays far better than the BIG COMMERCIALIZED holidays, because I can make it a special TK celebration, in my OWN fashion, without any pre-conceived notions shoved down the kids throats from the TV commercials bombarding them every 3 minutes. They aren’t disappointed, no matter what we do, because they aren’t expecting anything! Have you EVER seen a TV commercial for St. Patricks day? Well, neither have I. Lets hope it stays that way.

CLICK HERE to see the photos and story of a GREAT DAY!
