Fall 2011
Bittersweet farewells,
exciting beginnings!
Yes, I know that as a teacher, I need to accept the fact that kids come into my life, and then grow up, grow away and leave. Yes I need to accept it, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it! It is the least favorite part of my job. It tears me apart.
The only good thing about my TK kids growing up and leaving me, is that it opens up spaces in TK for new kids to come into my life. The anticipation I feel toward incoming children is similar to the excitement an expectant mother might feel about a new baby. I dream about what they might act like, how they will fit into the TK family, how it will change the dynamics of our group. Because every new child does impact the TK group very much the same way a new baby impacts a growing family. As we get acquainted with our newest TK family members, we assimilate, adjust and finally, embrace the children into our TK family. Every year, every new group of kids enrich TK in their own unique way, adding thread, depth and design to the rich tapestry that makes up nearly three decades of TK history of TK children, moments, and memories.
TK is so much more than a school...
TK has
3 School-age Openings!
TK has 3 openings for children at least 6 years old that attend Riverview Elementary School in Lakeside. The openings include transportation to and from the school, homework support, meals and snacks, and everything else TK has to offer!
TK is finally on FACEBOOK!
Please “Friend” us and “Like” us!
You can follow along with our school’s day to day activities on TK Facebook. When I post photos of our kids on the TK website, I will notify everyone through TK FB.
For security reasons I will never post photos of our kids on Facebook, due to “tagging”. I believe it is important to protect the identity of our kids, which is why I never use names of the children on Facebook or on the TK website. Please do not identify children you see in the pix other than with initials, or “my son” or “her daughter” type references.
Just a small sampling of our family, from my most precious first TK Grandchild, to the most senior TK family member, this photo represents 17 years of TK History!
The TK Family....

Our new school year started Tuesday, September 6!
I am so excited for this year!
Last year was such a resounding success! 100% of our graduates going into Kindergarten can read fluidly from their Sam books! They can count, sort and classify! They can speak Spanish and use good manners, listen, sit still and follow directions, to name just a few of their many accomplishments this last year! We have laughed and cried and sang and danced and played and worked hard. We have seen butterflies emerge from their cocoons, and picked pumpkins right from the patch. These kids are more than prepared for the transition to their new schools, and I am proud to send them out into the world with this solid foundation. TK Rocks!
Please be sure to bring your child to school ON TIME, WELL RESTED and READY for the day! We have a lot to do!
Please look at the
and see what people are saying about TK! I am very proud and touched to discover that I am not the only one who loves TK!
I appreciate the followers of my TK blog. It is a fun way to share what is going on here at TK with photos and stories of our beautiful children.
Please leave a comments if you like what you see!
